Thomas Hitzlsperger ist ein deutscher Mittelfeldspieler und derzeit beim AZ Alkmaar aktiv.
Zu Beginn seiner Karriere galt er als großes Juwel und stand bei den Topklubs PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord Rotterdam und Borussia Dortmund unter Vertrag. Doch bei keinem der Klubs konnte er sich richtig durchsetzen, nach einem Jahr Frankreich auf Leihbasis (ES Viry Chatillon) zog es Hitzlsperger dann in Saison 10 zurück in die Ehrendivision zum AZ Alkmaar. 4,8 Millionen überwies damals Manager To.R. auf das Konto des Borussia-Managers Rothi.
Doch auch in Alkmaar musste sich Hitzlsperger zunächst mit der Jokerrolle begnügen, erst im Laufe der Zeit rückte er immer mehr in den Mittelpunkt und entwickelte sich schnell zum Stammspieler. Mit nun 196 Liga-Einsätzen für Alkmaar, gehört Hitzlsperger jetzt sogar zu den Top-4-Spielern der AZ-Geschichte. Weiterhin darf er sich zu den Meisterspielern der Saison 17 zählen.
Ein Einsatz in der Nationalmannschaft blieb Hitzlsperger bisher verwehrt, trotzdem hofft er auf die EM Saison 18.
