Neuerungen
Saison 5 stand unter dem Stern von PHP. Eine sehr lange Einführungszeit brachte viele Kritiker auf den Plan, die eine zweite Abwanderungswelle monierten und erneut den Untergang fürchteten. Es hat sich dennoch als richtig erwiesen den BMO umzustellen, denn mit jedem Tag wächst die Community und jeder freie Verein steht immer nur kurz vor der Übernahme eines neuen Trainers. Die Zahlen sprechen für sich: 500 Anmeldungen im Zeitraum von 5 Monaten. Dass die Saison so lange dauerte, lag an der begrenzten Zeit der Programmierer und der fehlenden Implementierung mancher Wettbewerbe. Auch war der Ligabetrieb anfangs durch kleine Fehler gehindert. Dennoch kann man nur von einem Erfolg sprechen, wenn man den Unterschied kennt. Nicht nur war es für die Ligenleiter unzumutbar geworden so viel zu arbeiten, sondern auch die Administration ist um einiges leichter geworden, weswegen viele neue Features möglich geworden sind. Obwohl die Verbesserungen überwogen, gab es immer noch einige Kritiker, die das alte System vorgezogen hätten. Dabei gilt wie für alles im Leben: Die Mehrheit siegt und Fortschritt kann nicht aufgehalten, nur verzögert werden.
Ereignisse
Das Negative an der Situation war allerdings, dass man durch die Umstellung auch die von Spielerseite gesehen 'kriminellen' Elemente anzog, die durch Multiusing versuchten dem BMO zu schaden.'Der Fall Snoopy' z.B. ist charakteristisch für dieses Verhalten. Multiusing ging soweit, dass zu einer bestimmten Zeit mehr als 50 Vereine von Multiusern besetzt waren. Durch gewisse Filtermassnahmen konnte dies allerdings soweit unterbunden werden, dass man nun zwar nicht von Multifreiheit reden kann, aber sie keinen grossen Schaden anrichten können.
Neue Ligenleiter fand man in Frank Lex (bekannt als Lex) und Henning Ringholz (bekannt als Jenen). Meister wurde in England: natürlich Manchester United. Völlig realitätsfremd zeigten sich die Mannen von Bayer Leverkusen, die die Meisterschaft sichern konnten und dadurch ihren realen Vorbildern zeigten, dass es anscheinend doch nicht am Namen liegt.
