Karriere

Giorgos Gougoulakis kam am Anfang der Saison 13 durch ein Scouting zu Iraklis Saloniki. Dort wurde er zunächst im neu gegründeten Amateurteam eingesetzt. Doch mit der Zeit konnnte er dem etabliertem Torhüter Hans-Jörg Butt immer mehr unter Druck setzten. Mit dem Beginn der Saison 15 hatte er ihn dann endgültig verdrängt und hat seit dem den Platz als Nummer Eins in seinem Verein inne.

Für die U21-Nationalmannschaft bestritt er 6 Spiele und nahm mit ihr an der Europameister in Saison 16 und an der Weltmeisterschaft in Saison 17 teil. Aktuell gehört er zu den stärksten griechischen Torhütern und nimmt in der A-Nationalmannschaft den dritten Platz ein, hinter Anastasios Sotirinis und Panagiotis Nousias. Sein ausgeschriebenes Ziel ist es eines Tages die griechische Nummer Eins zu werden.
