FC Porto in Saison 10
In der darauffolgenden Spielzeit musste der FC Porto kleinere Brötchen backen. Mit 72 Punkten reichte es in der SuperLiga nur für Platz vier hinter Meitster Benfica Lissabon, Maritimo Funchal und Uniao Leiria.
Auch im Taca de Portugal schaffte es der FC Porto nur bis ins Viertelfinale. Dort unterlag er dem späteren Cupsieger Benfica Lissabon zuhause mit 0:1.
In dieser Saison durfte der FC Porto aufgrund der Meisterschaft im Vorjahr erstmals in der Europaliga starten. Der Erfolg hielt sich jedoch sehr in Grenzen. In der Vorrundengruppe D reichte es in der Konkurrenz mit PSV Eindhoven, Ipswich Town, AS Rom, Hamburger SV und Fenerbahce Istanbul mit 8 Punkten nur zum 6. und letzten Platz.
Top-Neuzugang war Marc Overmars, der für sage und schreibe 23,4 Mio € von Leeds United geholt wurde.
