Die Airtricity Amateur League ist die höchste Spielklasse im irischen Amateurfußball und seit der Saison 15 im BMO-Universum integriert. Bis zum Ende der Saison 29 hieß die Airtricity Amateur League Ericom Amateur League.
Seit dem bestehen der ersten Amateurliga gab es mehrere Änderungen von Anzahl der Vereine, die in der erste Amateurliga beheimatet waren. Gestartet ist die Airtricity Amateur League mit 14 Vereinen. Jeder Verein der Liga tritt in Hin- und Rückspielen gegen jeden anderen Verein der 1. Amateurliga an. Die Mannschaft mit den meisten Punkten aus allen Spielen wird irischer Amateurmeister, bei Punktgleichheit entscheidet das Torverhältnis. Ist auch dieses gleich, wird der Verein mit den mehr erzielten Toren Meister.
Aus der Airtricity Amateur League steigen die letzten drei Mannschaften in die Airtricity Amateur League 2, die zweithöchste Amateurspielklasse ab.
