Der Verein
Djurgarden Stockholm - kurz DIF - ist ein Verein aus dem Osten Stockholms. Das reale Vorbild ist Djurgardens IF Futbollförening, einer der erfolgreichsten schwedischen Fußballvereine. Zu den wohl bekanntesten Spielern gehören Andreas Isaksson und Kim Källström, die mit Djurgardens IF 2002 und 2003 die Meisterschaft der Allsvenskan gewannen.
Geschichte beim BMO
Die ersten Jahre (Saison 10-25)
Mit der Einführung des Länderverbundes Skandinavien betrat Djurgardens IF die Bühne des BMO. Gestartet als Zweitligist gelang im zweiten Jahr unter dem ersten Manager Kubik der Aufstieg. Darauf folgte die erste stabile Zeit des Vereins unter Manager Hotstuff-Hoschi zwischen der 12. und 17. Saison, in der DIF zwischen Skandinavia 1 und 2 pendelte. In den vier Spielzeiten unter der Leitung von Blaue Quellen (Saison 19-22) konnte sich das Team als solides Team der Skandinavia 2 halten, das dann aber allmählich in den Tabellenkeller rutschte. Im Katastrophenjahr 2009, in dem sich sage und schreibe acht Manager bei Djurgardens IF versuchten, bedeutete einen Tiefpunkt, an dessen Ende der Verein ohne Führung am Ende der Liga feststeckte.
Die Ära Bronstein (Saison 26-36)
Zur Saison 26 wurde DIF von dem Managerneuling David Bronstein übernommen. Auf einige Spielzeiten der Konsolidierung (in die der Aufstieg der Jugend in Saison 30 sowie die Gründung der Amateurabteilung in Saison 31 fällt) folgte in der Saison 31 der Aufstieg des Profiteams in die Skandiavia 1. Die Aufstiegssaison wurde durch den Gewinn des Nils-Holgersson-Wanderpokals gekrönt. In der folgenden Saison konnte sich das Team von Bronstein erstmals für den Europa-Cup qualifizieren; eine weitere Qualifikation gelang in Saison 35. Beide Teilnahmen endeten jedoch in Runde 1. Ein letztes Highlight gelang in der Saison 35, als Djurgarden in das skandinavische Pokalfinale einzog, dort aber Rosenborg BK kanpp mit 0:1 unterlag.
Zum Ende der Saison 36 kündigte Manager Bronstein seinen Wechsel zum schottischen Rekordmeister Celtic Glasgow an.
Die Ära Mero (Saison 36-56)
Schon bald nach der Ankündigung von Bronsteins Wechsel konnte mit Mero vom FC Dumbarton ein neuer erfahrener Manager verpflichtet werden. Bereits in seiner ersten Saison konnte Mero den prestigeträchtigen Nils-Holgersson-Wanderpokal zum zweiten Mal nach Stockholm holen. Er konnte den Verein über lange Strecken in der Skaninavia 1 halten und erreichte mehrfach das internationale Geschäft - zuletzt in Saison 52, in der mit Rang 3 die beste Platzierung in SKA1 gelang. Nach einem erneuten Abstieg verließ Mero Djurgarden in Saison 56 und trainiert nach einer kurzen Auszeit seit der Saison 59 Hammarby IF, wo er erneut als Nachfolger von Bronstein einstieg.
Bronstein 2.0 (Saison 57-)
Die Saison 56 ging ohne Manager und dafür auf einem Abstiegsplatz in der Skandinavia 2 zu Ende, als Bronstein zu seinem Heimatverein zurückkehrte. In den folgenden Spielzeiten gelang erneut die Konsolidierung und Djurgarden stieg vom schwächsten Team wieder in die Skandinavia 1 auf (Saison 60).
